CNTXT x Slow Jamz “Scents & Sounds” Collab
Inspired by the soulful imagery in Common’s music video for ‘The Light’ directed by Nzingha Stewart, CNTXT and Slow Jamz collaborated to create a scented candle reminiscent of the intimate atmosphere present throughout this iconic video.
To parallel the overall mood of the video and pay homage to the visual elements in each scene, we wanted to strike a balance of warmth and freshness. Notes of sandalwood incense, amber, and leather as the base and notes of cantaloupe, jasmine, and bergamot for a layered finish.
Each note comes together harmoniously for an earthy woody scent that is also sweet and bright.
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Nostalgia is a state of being that takes shape in many ways, often finding its way to us through a combination of our senses. Scent and sound in particular are two of the most powerful senses that can transport us back to the past.
In our first collaboration, CNTXT and Slow Jamz curated two scented candles to capture the visual imagery, sound, and lyrics of iconic music videos from the early 2000's. Fusing two sensory experiences unique to each brand, this collection aims to take you on a transportive multi-sensory journey from an intimate bedroom to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. All you need to do is relax, press play, and light up.

We use a natural blend of coconut and apricot with a cotton wick.
Comes in a glossy black glass 8.5oz (240g) container & carefully packaged in an off-white textured paper box. The vellum labels used for this drop are 100% recycled with 100% post-consumer waste material.
Note: Each one of our candles is considered a medium-sized candle (usually between 7-10 oz.) with one wick are appropriate for a medium-sized room, such as a bedroom. If you'd like for the fragrance to fill a larger room like a kitchen or living room, we suggest placing 2-3 candles for a stronger scent throw.

To ensure a safe and smooth burn, please follow these steps before lighting your candle each time
REMOVE ANY DEBRIS
Make sure your candle is free of any wick trimmings, matches, and other debris. These can reignite and create a flame that is too large for the candle, posing a safety issue and potentially shattering the jar.
TRIM YOUR WICK TO 1/4 INCH
Using a wick trimmer or a pair of scissors, trim your wick to ¼ of an inch before lighting your candle, every time. This is the optimal height for ensuring an even burn that is free of soot debris. ¼ inch is shorter than you think, about the size of a pencil eraser.
BURN FOR AT LEAST 1 HOUR AND NO LONGER THAN 3-4 HOURS
To prevent tunneling, make sure to burn your candle for at least 1 hour at a time or until the melt pool reaches the edge of the glass before extinguishing. Vice versa, burning a candle for longer than 3-4 hours will cause carbon to collect on the wick, leading it to “mushroom”. The wick will then become unstable and produce a dangerously large flame.

Any order to the continental U.S. qualifies for free shipping after $49. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any free shipping internationally, or to Alaska and Hawaii.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR MY CNTXT STUDIOS CANDLE?
Cntxt Studios 8.5 oz candles have an average burn time of 50 hours if cared for properly. Here are some tips to get the most out of your Cntxt Studios Candle.
- Always light your candle for 3-4 hours during the first burn session (until the wax reaches the edges of the vessel) to create an even burn and a long lasting candle.
- To preserve the fragrance, do not burn your candle for more than 5-6 hours at a time.
- Before each burn, trim the wick to 1/8" to avoid black smoke, residue, and tunneling.
- Always remove wick debris before lighting.
- If the wick requires centering, readjust it to the center (only when the candle is unlit).
- Always burn on a flat, stable, fireproof surface.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Do not burn the candle when less than 1/4" of wax remains in the glass.
- Placing a hot candle on a cold surface such as marble or glass can cause the vessel to crack.
WHAT TYPE OF WAX DO YOU USE?
We use a unique blend of coconut & apricot wax for a clean and complete burn. A cleaner burn means less particle pollution in your home.
